Felt System

Felt roofs have long been thought of as difficult to maintain but for most of our flat roofing applications we use a mineral surfaced three layer High Performance Torch on Felt system which is extremely durable, easy to lay and economical.

Because the protective coating of crushed granite chippings is bedded to the surface of the felt this not only offers protections from the UV rays of the sun, it also means that there is no need to cover the roof in stone chippings which usually find their way into the gutters or are used as a toilet by the neighborhood cats!

EPDM rubber roofing dramatically lowers the carbon footprint of a structure in a number of ways. The lifespan of a rubber roof is up to 5 times that of a felt roof and 2-3 times longer than an asphalt roof.

Rubber such as EPDM (ethylene-propylene-diene monomer) is renowned for its strength and durability, it is also known to be excellent for thermal insulation and water resistance. This is also a stable compound with no accompanying odor or fumes that normally characterize rubbers.

EPDM has been used for roofing projects since the 1960s.
